Hue Festival 2012 "Cultural Heritage with Integration and Development - The Rendezvous for Historical Cities"
Hue Festival 2012, the international event being held for its seventh edition in Thua Thien Hue Province is set as the highlight for the National Tourism Year 2012. It is also to commemorate the 325th anniversary of Phu Xuan (Hue) when it was chosen as the capital of “Dang Trong” (the southern region of Vietnam) by Lord Nguyen Phuc Thai, and later as the country’s capital under the Tay Son Dynasty and the Nguyen Dynasty.

The event is designated as the platform for the cultural exchange initiative of the Forum for East Asia and Latin America Cooperation.
Hue Festival 2012 will be launched on Saturday, April 7, 2012 and concluded on Sunday evening of April 15, 2012.
Hue Festival 2012 will showcase distinctive performances of Vietnam, exceptionally Hue royal arts, glamorous presentations from different Vietnamese sub-cultures, and performances with cultural nuances by more than 20 leading art troupes from many countries of the five continents.
Hue Festival 2012 will continue to re-enact unique royal ceremonies together with a wide range of unprecedented and exciting community events.
Art performances
Exceptional art performances will be staged every night during the Festival at venues inside the Citadel, An Dinh Palace, Ngo Mon Square and Quoc Hoc’s Stele Square with the participation of artists from France, Belgium, Poland, Russia, Rumania, Switzerland, Germany, the U.K, the USA, Mexico, Panama, Senegal, South Africa, Australia, China, Korea, Japan, Mongolia, India, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, the Philippines, Indonesia, Israel, Vietnam and others.
Street performances and exchange programs at outdoor stages in the city of Hue or centres of neighbouring towns within the province will arouse an exhilarating festive atmosphere during the Festival.
Vietnamese art troupes which include outstanding national theatres and companies representing major cities and provinces, distinctive subcultures and cultural heritages, artists on the cutting edge will entertain the audience with initiative and stunning performances.
Fringe activities
The fringe activities at Hue Festival 2012 include the forum of Business Community with Cultural Heritages, installation art displays, the pocket-festivals of Children’s Festival, Hue Poetry Festival and fascinating gastronomy quarters.
Other community art performances and cultural activities including street fine arts, exhibitions, traditional kite flying, installation art, street music, workshops, sporting activities, gastronomy and sightseeing tours, etc. will fascinate participants during the whole day long.
